Exclusive infrastructure resource

A dedicated data-allocation region in Switzerland.

Verified press members can use an exclusive Swiss allocation option for eligible data. The region was selected for Switzerland’s strong federal data-protection framework and independent privacy supervision.

  • A distinct allocation option reserved for verified members of the press.
  • A jurisdiction with a modern federal data-protection framework governing private-sector processing.
  • Independent oversight by the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
  • Used alongside Ackaia’s encryption, minimization and access-control boundaries.

Data location adds a jurisdictional safeguard. It does not replace encryption, account security or valid legal process, and it does not make data immune from lawful requests.

Who can apply

For journalists and press professionals with current credentials.

Ackaia reviews evidence that reasonably establishes an active professional connection to journalism or press coverage. Your Ackaia ID billing profile must identify the same person shown in the credential.

Accepted evidence may include

  • An employer-issued press ID or badge
  • A press pass for an event you are covering
  • An official badge or ID granting access to restricted press areas

The credential should show

  • Your full name and photograph
  • Professional title and employer or organization
  • Issuing organization
  • Issue and expiration dates when applicable

Complete your billing profile first

If the profile and credential identify different people, Ackaia may be unable to approve the verification until the discrepancy is resolved.

An institutional commitment

Privacy protects the people who keep the public informed.

Ackaia advocates for freedom of the press, freedom of expression and the right to privacy. Journalists, sources and independent publishers need room to investigate, communicate and preserve material without routine profiling or unnecessary exposure.

That position is part of Ackaia’s broader belief that technology should protect people before profits. It shapes both the press program and the company’s public Manifesto.

01

Freedom of the press

Journalistic work should not be weakened by infrastructure designed around surveillance.

02

Freedom of expression

People need secure space to research, communicate and publish lawful expression.

03

Privacy

Confidentiality is a condition for independent work, not a premium feature.

Privacy is for people, not for profits.
